Stong is the new skinny

Strong is the new skinny

Media has a huge impact on women and body image.  Over the past 20 years you have seen a change in the media of what it really means to be “skinny”. As a woman looking at all these super skinny models and people on the cover of magazines you wanted to have that “perfect skinny body.” But was it really perfect?  Would you really want to be just “skinny"?  As the times have changed so has the outlook on women, you now have plus size models and every day women standing showing all kinds of different body types and looks. In this day in age it's not about having that super skinny super model look but its about being healthy and strong in your own skin.

When I say strong I am not talking about becoming a body builder.  I am talking about waking up and feeling good about how you look. If you want to work out and eat right it should be for you.  It’s a life style change but a good one which will help not only how you feel about yourself, but for your health your energy and your overall way of life.

“Anything men can do ,women can do it better”  This is a quote that has been around for a while, but it's true.  You see more and more women starting to embark and explore fitness.  It's not only about cardio anymore.  There are many women weight training. There are so many different workouts you can do as a woman to become strong and fit and not in a body builder kind of way!

Body weight training

Is huge, as women you can lean out you muscles but using your own body weight. Triceps dips on a stair or even on the floor, squatting , ab work ,lunges etc.

Is very empowering and again you are using you own body weight.  It strengthens your entire body and helps with balance.

Are a great way to get a full body workout that combines both strength and cardio. It combines doing jumping jackets with step ups, or planks with a weighted row.

There are so many different types of exercises you can try.  See what best suits you.  Just getting out there and pushing yourself to do things you never thought possible is the most rewarding thing you can do.

Get out there and try something new and become the best you, you can be!
